Starting a Blog

I remember when I first started a blog back in 2001.  That’s fifteen years ago, around the same time I first started writing stories.  They were formerly called ‘weblogs’, and within months shortened to ‘blogs’.  Anyway, the last fifteen years I founded maybe about four or five separate blogs including a couple Tumblrs, none of which has really sent motivation through my veins and determination to maintain regular updates.

Maybe this time it will be different, since I’m actually serious about where I want to go with this blog.  And I’ll have a manageable schedule – once per week, on Sunday, write something.  It could be a review (game, food, movie, etc), mini-story of some sort, how I’m feeling, why I write the way I write, how I focus on my writing etc.  As long as the standards are reasonable to my time, I think I can manage.

Today is goals.  Seems appropriate, right?

Goals for the year:

  • New car:  My car is over 10 years old now.  It still runs well, but I’ve learned owning a house requires a bigger vehicle.  Since bigger vehicles cost more, my goal is to save up money to reduce the loan/interest.
  • Beta readers:  I have a couple resources ready for entirely objective beta readers for my first story.  I still have just a little more editing to do, then the story will be ready for its first official read.
  • Read more:  Since I’ll be focusing less on my own story, I’ll have more time to actually read.  I’ll try to buy only from indie authors and submit reviews.
  • Make 52 entries for this blog:  Easy, right…?

Okay, so, that’s where I’ll end this.  It’s the last day of vacation before I go back to work, starting a new year.  I need to enjoy it.
